Medium: first generation WYSIWYG-based interactivity, Chinese traditional ink on rice sacks, construction paint, photo frames, digital prints, clothing, rice, thread
Dimension: 15’ x 15’ x15’
This installation examines an immigrant’s feeling of alienation caught in a cultural limbo. Broken Chinese characters of “home” cover the painted paper rice sacks. Integrated into the installation is also an early generation interactive computer-based component. In weaving the words and the images together, the installation examines the vulnerability of being “the other”.
