Star Spangled Banner
medium: color mapping, single channel video
AUT 2011-Neurodiversity, Museum of Modern Art, Kiev, Ukraine
The video is created by mapping the music notes from the sheet music of the first edition of Francis Scott Key’s “the Star-Spangled Banner” into colors, and superimposing the colors over a mesmerizing slow-motioned video clip of a child riding the merry-go-round. The note-to-color mapping algorithm is a linear conversion of frequencies of the music notes on a 88-key piano keyboard (28 ~ 4186 Hz) to the visible range of human eyes (400 ~ 790 Hz).
